"About Relations Inc. and its Principles"

Vicki Williams Ron Peters

Relations Inc. was formed when Mr. Ronald G. Peters, previously Director of Public Affairs for Oxy and Ms. Vicki L. Williams, formerly Manager of Public Relations for Oxy joined together to form the firm. The goal was to use their combined total of over 43 years experience in the public affairs field to help clients deal with current or unanticipated problems, or to enhance their business opportunities.

Relations Inc. has a great deal of expertise in building relationships and bridging communications between communities, elected officials and the media. We work with our clients to assess their individual needs, then we design and implement a public affairs program appropriate to the situation.

Relations Inc. helps clients define their target audiences, and develop clear messages that directly address the concerns of those audiences. We also provide media training so the spokespeople who will be delivering these messages, can do so in a comfortable and confident manner.

From a community relations standpoint, we develop and implement programs to build broad support in the community for our clients issues. Where appropriate we also work with the news media to get our clients messages delivered with credibility.

Relations Inc. previous experience working with elected officials, allows us to be strong advocates for our clients in this arena. We also have experience working with regulatory and environmental agencies developing creative solutions to difficult problems.

One of Relations Inc. strengths is in developing Crisis Communications Management programs. Most organizations have in place an emergency response plan that tells them what to do operationally to "fix" a problem, but they also need a "Crisis Communications Plan" that tells them how to communicate about the crisis. How well an organization does operationally managing the crisis is important, but how well they do in communicating about the crisis is equally important. The media is your link to the general public. How well you do in communicating with the media, will determine how you are judged in the court of public opinion. In addition to preparing a crisis communications plan, Relations Inc. can train those charged with implementing the plan, and conduct a drill to test the plan and the people.

As the final leg of a comprehensive public affairs service, Relations Inc. offers media training. We are very proficient preparing individuals to face the media. We teach our clients how to deliver effective interviews, while appearing competent, confident and sincere.
