Community, Media, Government and Environmental Relations

Relations Inc. has over 40 years of experience working with communities, state, local and federal governments and the media. We can design and execute a comprehensive plan to improve communications and relationships with external audiences. We manage controversial issues, by using one or all of the following approaches:

Community Relations is a must to build support for an issue. Local, well respected advocates are critical. We not only work to neutralize the opposition, but also to create strong, local, proactive allies to carry our clients messages.  We teach them "risk communications" techniques and arm them with messages.

Media Relations is another element of an overall strategy that can be used to build momentum for an issue. We work with local, trade and national media to get our client's message out and to build support for their position. Utilizing editorial board visits, on camera interviews, radio talk shows, etc., we get the messages delivered.

Government Relations is another component that is sometimes needed to accomplish targeted objectives. Working with elected officials from state, local and federal governments, we create strong voices for your issues.

Environmental Relations is one of our biggest assets as we have experience working with environmental agencies at both the state and federal levels developing creative solutions to difficult problems.

Crisis Communications Planning

Many organizations have in place, an emergency response plan that tells them what to do operationally to "fix" a problem, but they also need a "Crisis Communications Plan," that tells them how to communicate about the crisis. How well an organization does operationally in managing the crisis is important, but how well you communicate about the crisis is equally important. The vast majority of people will judge companies based on reports from the news media. Relations Inc. helps you prepare a plan, train your people how to implement the plan and we conduct a drill to test the plan. When the crisis hits, and it's only a matter of time, you are prepared and in control.

Media Training

Relations Inc. media training gives you the skills and confidence necessary to conduct effective media interviews. We show you the techniques needed to communicate your message, and how to manage the seven-second "sound-bite." Our training teaches you how to present yourself favorably, while delivering meaningful messages with confidence and sincerity.
